Default Copperhammer

I'm trying to get to SF so I can farm, but I'm having the biggest problem just trying to get to copperhammer. There's either too many enemies to fight, or too many traps to run. I tried hiring a runner (which I'm totally against), but he couldn't even do it. What are some of the suggestions. I've made it to iron mines, and have completed Thunderhead.

p.s. Plz no well you must really suck n00b ...You can't even do that...etc. posts

Where are you at right now? Iron Mines? Droknar's? It's a bit easier to start from Droknar's, go to Camp Rankor, and get a run from there.

You just run north till you find a path heading east. It's a bit easier to go through Camp Rankor than Copperhammer/Granite Citadel.

I had no problems doing this using henchies and I'm a full ranger.

Patience and watch for opportunties to attack, that's all.

Travel in this area is difficult and challenging, if you don't get run (I don't believe in running and have never done it). You can get anywhere in this area, but it takes time and proper technique. I even went from the Mines mission town to Marhan's Grotto with henchies and without being infused! Took me hours, but I made it.

Pay attention to your technique. You have to lure groups back to fight them - make contact with your aggro circle to attract the nearest one, then run back a ways and see if they follow. If they don't, try again, its like fishing where you may need to tease them and reel them in. The point is, you must pull back a group of enemies to fight them, so that you don't attract a second or third group while you fight the first.

Then you have to know who to target first. Of course the melee experts are going to surround you, but a real danger are the mesmer and spell casters, and you can't just ignore these. It takes some practice to know who to go after first. Monks of course should be attacked first, as they heal the others.

Then you also need to know when to retreat. Since this is not a mission, you just get resurrected again when the whole party dies, but then you have a long walk each time, and its hard to continue with -60% DP (*reminisces about the trip to the Grotto*). But if you see you have attracted more than you can handle, try running away. Chances are not all will follow you. If you can completely get away from everyone, then wait and see if they back off enough so you can resurrect any fallen party members.

And don't make the mistake of bypassing any enemy groups that may give you problems later. Skirting around a group may seem ok when you do it, but then suddenly you find that the came up to join the next battle you are in. Take them out rather than sneak around them!

What you are experiencing now is a part of the game that is very challenging and can be lots of fun. Unfortunately, many players do not have the patience for this, and do not care to learn proper techniques, and simply hire runners.

BTW, this particular trip you are trying to make, to Copper Mines, is very difficult near the goal. My party seems to always die at least once near the entrance; just try to kill as many as you can before you all die, then come back and finish them off.

You can also do some nice spell capping on the way there too, just take henchies and walk it, you will probably get some -dp but that's just part of it.

It will get frustrating and that is where you will find out what kind of player you really are. Just don't give up!

Good job. By the way I was able to make it to Granite Citadel and War Camp with henchies without dying even once. Patience is all it takes. Don't bite off more than you can chew.

I usually wait near a group of enemies until one or two strays away then I attempt to lure it even farther away from the main group. It's the matter of knowing what you can do. For instance I can take on 8 seige ice golems all at once but I would think twice about doing the same with 6 summit dwarves.

Whenever possible, I go after enemies in this order: healers first, then necros, then mesmers, then whoever's left.

Outside of Grenth's Footprint entrance in Silverhead Peak, go north.
